Yay! Finals are done! Also, grades are posted and I must say I did better than I thought I would. We have a real estate agent coming to assess our condo tomorrow so I've just been trying to get things tiddy. Hopefully I'll be able to go running tomorrow. I think I'll have a bottle of wine this weekend to celebrate the quarter being over. Anyway, just random thoughts. I don't think anyone reads my blogs anymore anyway! Haha! |

Haha! Honestly I forgot I had a live journal. Well, so much has happened! I went back to school (finally) at the beginning of this year (winter quarter). I feel like my life is actually going somewhere now. I got married in August. It was hectic, but now it's over and I have school to think about. I've been to lots of great concerts this year. Um....I'm not very good about talking about myself I guess. Back to studying for finals! |

So I just got the new Cat Power album, "The Greatest." I have to say, it's very different than all her others. It sounds like Joni Mitchell if she were to have had a classic country influence instead of a jazz influence in her later years. There's not one song I don't like. It's truely beautiful, and she showcases her voice more so on this album more than any other. To anyone that reads this blog, you shound definately check it out! |

So I've been a shift supervisor for about 3 months now. I'm very by the book when I'm running the floor. I coach partners on following policies that I know exist, but the majority of management doesn't seem to follow. So a couple weeks ago, my manager told me that I'm being too hard on people and that policy isn't that important. I need to look at "the big rocks instead of the small ones". At that moment I felt everything I had been trained through with Starbucks was wrong. We just got a 67% snapshot for bad drink quality and speed of service, and here I am being told that following drink recepies to standard isn't important. I don't understand why following policy is suddenly a problem if I manage to do it while having fun and relating to the partners. What do you guys think? How important is policy in your stores? |

So this Marine came into my store today, ordered his drink, then while I was on bar, asked me if I had a lighter. I told him yes, but it was in my car. Then he just gave me a blank stare and walked off, like he actually expected me to have one on the floor with me. It was weird.
Other than that, I had my assessment last week and I should be promoted to shift supervisor soon. I'm excited. It will be a new experience and it will allow me to finance a little better.... |

Okay, so I went into work today thinking, "It's going to be so easy! All I have to do is set up the promo." Wrong! I was there from 1:30 to 9 doing non-stop set up for tomorrow. For some reason, someone from corporate decided that all the machines needed head bands and hang tags. We came to the conclusion that those people are smoking too much herb. Needless to say, it was stressful, I'll probably have nightmares about it, but thank God it's over with. |

Today was a weird day at work. First off, this high school kid comes up to me and asks how much I get paid. Not wanting to tell him the exact amount, I tell him that I get by for now. Then he asks how old I am. I tell him. Then he says, "Well, you really should be in school right now. It's better that way." Wanting to punch him in the face, I tell him, "Well, I've already gone through a year of school, and now I'm taking a break." What a dumb fuck! What right does he have to say that when he doesn't even know me?! It was probably his stupid way of flirting. High school boys are dumb.
Then, this weird guy comes in, orders a drip coffee, so I get him one. Then he asks for another cup because supposedly my hand touched the other one. That pissed me off, like I'm dirty or something. Hello! I work in food! Then things got creepy. I looked over and saw our lobby on his laptop screen. He was taping us! My shift manager went over and told him that it was violating security, and if he didn't stop, we'd call the police. He responded with,"Well, if it's against security, then I'm not doing it. Now leave me alone." So we kept watching him and soon enough he left. He was caught. I can't understand why people do things sometimes...
Anyway, I haven't heard from TJ in a few days (for those of you who don't know the backround, it's a loooong story). His phone's been off, which worries me because he might suddenly be in another country (he's in the Marines). I'm sad not hearing from him, but I've decided I can't let it get me down when I'm nowhere near him and won't be for another 3 years. I guess I'll see what happens then.... |

Life is good at the new store. I was surprised at how quickly I adapted. Hopefully I'll have a better chance at getting promoted....
I saw Constantine the other night. It was pretty bad. First off, being Catholic, it made me uncomfortable observing how Hollywood percieves the Catholic religion. I just get tired of movies that show a narrow-minded perspective like that. Secondly, the plot got worse and worse throughout the movie and then took a landslide towards disaster after the middle. And third, Keanu Reeves is, and always will be, a terrible actor. That guy belongs on a soap opera.
Other than that, not a lot has been going on. I was depressed a few days ago, but it's gotten better. I hate feeling that way, but it's been happening too often... |

Wednesday we went to dinner at Tia Lu's. I ordered this really strong raspberry thing, then took a shot of Jager. Needless to say I got pretty buzzed. Then it was on to the Rendevous where we met a couple more friends and had moe drinks. Over all, I got pretty drunk, but I didn't get sick, which was nice.
I left for Vegas to meet my family on Thursday. We drove to Lake Havesu, Arizona to spend time with my grandparents. Friday we all went to Laughlin. I think I lost a total of $70, which isn't horribly bad. Sunday we went back to Vegas and spent time in the New York New York casino. My big win was after I put $.50 in a slot machine, puled the handle once, and won $10. I was pretty proud.
Anyway, it's nice to be home and 21. Now my friends won't have to worry about what under age things they can do when they hang out with me. |

Tonight is looking to be fun. I'm going to a show with Lizzie. I'm not sure which bands are playing, but it's better than staying home. I'll have to write again and list the bands.
2 days til I'm 21!! I'm going out with a few friends tomorrow at midnight for power hour. It should be quite the experience. Then I leave for Vegas on the 17th and then onto Arizona. Yay! |

So I've been in my new apartment for almost a week now and I love it. It's so spacious and it's in a great area.
Other than that, I went to the dentist today, which was obviously not fun. I have cavities and wisdom teeth, so I had to make more appointments to take care of those. The assistant asked me if I wanted my teeth cleaned and I had to force myself to say yes, because I hadn't had them cleaned in God knows how long. It was extremely gross and annoying. They were also ready to take some of my wisdom teeth out right there on the spot, but I declined, saying I wasn't ready yet. I've heard too many horror stories, so I think I need mental preparation.
I got word today that I will be transfering to a new store soon. I went in and met the manager and she seems cool. I should be transferring at the end of the month. I'm kind of nervous. |
